Mr. Big's drummer shows you a couple of interesting things you can do on drums. This is only a segment of the entire video. In this clip Pat shows some grace notes grooves and how he plays Temperamental and Mr.Gone.

  • what's this thing that sounds like plastic cowbell?

btw i'm actually surprised by all the craziness in comments here... lesson is useful and accesible, but what do you actually see in this drumming apart from being "proper". i'm curious. ...and know it's probably very hard to express ones taste but maybe someone could try?

  • @odolany I didn't understand your comment...come on man...he's a very underrated drummer in my opinion...SURE he's not the best. Can you find another rock drummer which such creativity, skills and power at the same time?

  • How is his snare mounted? It looks like its kinda bouncing when he hits it.. Or is his stand kinda wobbling?

  • @TheLastJrummer I'm not sure but maybe he uses the Tama Air Ride System

  • @traQQua90 I think that in a some f-d -up way Dom Howard and Pat Torpey compete in the same league. Big, creative and powerful stadion-rock drummers who base their style on hard rock mixed with jazz sensibilities.

  • big snare!

  • hahahah he is very good

  • i used to play and learn piano when i was 8 years old.

and one day, my father showed me this drum lesson video (it was still on VCD. haha).

since then, i played, and still playing drums 'til today :)

    thank you, Pat Torpey :)

  • That beat around 3:50 sounds like paradiddles.

  • el mejor batero de rock ptadita toprpey csm.

  • 5:14 tasty

  • @odolany I think it is a LP Rock Ridge Rider cowbell. It has i plastic bar on top of it, to protect the cowbell as weel as the drumstick :)

  • why the fuck does he look at the camera like a crazy person at 2:46?
