DADA

DADA: a performance.

This performance is based off the cathartic reaction the Dada artist expressed after the horrors of World War One. In an anarchical attempt to deconstruct the society and culture that had allowed and promoted the atrocities of the First World War the Dada artist reverted to a nonsensical poems and artworks.
The links between this performance and Dada art is inherently blatant in order to break through the estrangement many veterans, including myself, feel to society, and hence construct a historical understanding of self.

speaking as a young art historian (whose emphasis and love is in dada) this was increadibly wonderful. i find actions and reactions to society (especailly its wars) through art cuts right to the center of me. i so hope that this has done the same to someone else...
