He was killed, along with his his girlfriend, Amie Huguenard, by a rogue bear in October 2003. The films explores their compassionate lives as they found solace among these endangered animals.

Uh, no he was crazy. The people who are amazing are the people who live up there around the bears and respect them and give them their space. In turn, the bears show their respect by not eating them. Those people are amazing.
