Pony Free Loading IH Natural Horsemanship

My pony Shadow, loading into the horse trailer without touching him!! All that was used was some carrots (that he took from me even before he go in the trailer). No leadrope. Just using body language...I scream a bit, because he eats 2 carrots that I had in my hand before he even gets into the trailer! I was a bit too forceful to get him out of the trailer, I must admit, but he was ok.

**I PUT THIS AS NATURAL HORSEMANSHIP BECAUSE I'M NOT USING WHIPS OR FORCE TO GET HIM IN THE TRAILER - AND NOW WE CAN DO IT WITHOUT ANY FOOD**

no effence im not meaning to be rude but it kind of looked like bribing to me...i do parelli natural horsemanship and my pony will load with just a point of the finger...i dont even step in the trailer...

I do just open the trailer now and he gets in there without any food....he just wants to explore, it's like a second home to him.(not that he gets boxed a lot). The carrots are there for reward.

i understand if the carrots are for a reward but im just saying if you lead him in holding the carrots infront of his nose its kind of like bribing (if you go to search and type in don halladay one video should come up...its a student who does parelli natural horsemanship...like at their trailer loading so you see what im taking about :]) good work anyways though.

I'm not really into parelli and don't know anything about it. I was just trying to use the term 'natural horsemanship' loosely, because it's a non-violent way of getting your horse into a box. Like i said before, he doesn't require a carrot now, because he walks in almost everytime without being told and never gets a carrot for it.

the one day that pony decides he doesnt want to go into the trailer... lol not even bribes will work. Lol my mum's horse is a smart stocky paint pony and one time after a long trail ride and a bath, with the sun setting and a long journey home, she decided she was too good for loading. We were out there for hours trying to get that pony in. (this was before we got into natural horsemanship and learned a thing or two.)

If you have a horse which really is afraid of going in, it won't go because of a carrot. this has nothing to do with natural horsemanship
