I have to agree with that. I was also a little disappointed that the various switches didn't enable or disable the actual USB ports on the hub. But it's still an awesome accessory!

do you have to turn on both switches and then turn the key to make it work?

Just to make the Doomsday mechanism work. The USB hub part works as soon as you plug it in.
