I saw the previews for this movie on a LOAD of newer DVDs. I was torn on if I really wanted to see it or not. Now I believe I will, thanks.

I feel like the movie you reviewed had to many jokes ruined by the trailer. The only reason I would own this movie is for the scene when they dance. It is such a good scene

Your review was interesting, but it seems to miss the point.
Yes, this film does pay homage to hippies and Jedis; the underlying joke of the film is having Ewan McGregor play someone who's never HEARD of a Jedi. But...
As far as not laughing every second...it's not really a comedy. It's more anti-war, anti-big business satire than anything. In the movie, people get strung along because they believe in their leaders.
On another note, this is the first time I've seen positive LSD use in a film.

@jfulbright, And it is classified as a war-comedy. The major theme is paranormal military programs.

@jfulbright, I think that what you found more important in the movie differs with what I found most important in the film and that is it. As far as "missing the point" everyone gains something equal in enjoying a film, but enjoy a film and take from it in different aspects of the film.
The point is to enjoy a film and I enjoyed this film thoroughly, thanks for the comment.
