I assume 'swallowing your tongue' is used to mean upper airway obstruction caused by either the back of the tongue or the epiglottis falling onto the back of the throat and obstructing your breathing.
This is caused by unconsciousness, which causes relaxation of the muscles that normally hold your airway open.
If it is done wrong you can loose your conciousness and choke. The risk is higher because you are laying slightly tilted.

If waterboarding is too easy, I suggest that you try it.
Coming up with nastier and nastier ways of treating people is not the mark of a strong society - or a particularly intellegent one - and Human Rights are just that - rights - not some drippy idea invented by commie-pinko-hippies that knit yoghurt.

I've tried it and done it to willing friends who didn't think it was torture. Guess what? The second the towel was removed they admitted that it actually was torture.
If you're such a tough guy, then post a video of yourself on youtube with you getting waterboarded.

I'm sure that the psychological aspect of it being done by masked strangers is different from your friends doing it. Also this stunt was performed by amateurs.
