GEICOs ad campaigns have ranged from: the GEICO gecko, Ive got good news, the Cavemen, 15 min online, and testimonials featuring celebrities. Recently GEICO has introduced, its newest face, Kash. Kash is a stack of money with a pair of wiggly eyes on top that watches people. This stack of money represents the money you could be saving. This cuts directly to the chase while playing a Rockwell re-mix in the background. No matter what commercial is running, GEICOs message has been the same, save money by switching to GEICO. The humorous commercials are argued to be the source of GEICOs success. However, these new commercials are extremely dull.
After having introduced lively characters and slogans that even five year olds can recognize, GEICO slaps society in the face with this shit. No more 15 minutes could save you 15% or more on car insurance or so easy a caveman can do it. People do not seem to find the humor in these new commercials; they are a bit creepy. The commercials seem to make people uncomfortable by introducing the idea that as long as they are not with GEICO they are being watch. The most successful auto insurance commercials to date are perhaps the Progressive auto insurance commercials with their bubbly sales person Flo. They are silly and friendly with no put downs. GEICO used the Cavemen for years and the commercials became monotones so, the GEICO gecko was re-introduced. The commercials proved satisfying/ successful as they continue to be aired today. However GEICO was moving backwards and in need a new gimmick. Thus Kash was born. Commercials have been adapting to keep up with the growth of the mind, and thus have become more in debt. For example GEICOs cavemen commercials played on the fallacy of stereotyping as, an intelligent, yet oppressed and stereotyped caveman, fought GEICOs stubborn campaign. These new commercials are an insult to the intellect of the viewer. GEICO is slacking in its creativity, such creating our reasoning to take apart this new ad campaign. Not the campaign itself but rather the sequence/ process taken to come up with such a thing. One would expect a growing company would be able to come up with something far more, animated, alive, or relatable.
hahaha thats really creative (: good jobb
