u havent posted in a year. imguessing you quit. cant say i blame you, tae kwon do had a lot of flaws when i leartn it. made it as far as blue. too much theory, not enough practice. that was the schools fault though, not tae kwon dos. you shud get yourself out there.
try some mma and jiu jitsu, it feels a lot more effective. wish you all the best.

yeah, your right, the Chang Hon style of the ITF but not the actual ITF!
tagb dont do ITF as such, they left before the introduction of Sine Wave, they still perform the old style of hip twist.
-
They ARE following the style (largely) of the ITF, as you said yourself, just not the organisation.
I wasn't aware that the TAGB are claiming to teach TKD patterns in the exact same way as the ITF, with the ridiculously exaggerated "sine wave" concept.
-
no, how can you endorse a style but not follow it?
yes there is problems, every group has problems, even TAGB. they lot a few groups like GTI, UKGT, PUMA and Bytomic because of Political problems, no-one can ever be right.
oh, how can you cheat your students, they are not doing ITF style Chang Hon patterns, they are doing karate style Chang Hon patterns, not 100% the same.
-
The TAGB left the ITF because of the constant political infighting within that organisation. Assuming that the ITF style is effective, then how is the TAGB cheating its students? It's certainly not claiming to have a monopoly on the ITF style.
Is it not possible to endorse the ITF's style whilst objecting to the organisation itself?
It's like supporting Man. United instead of Chelsea. It doesn't mean you hate football.

If appropriate attention is given to self-defense then TKD techniques can be devastating in self defense, including grappling. It's a question of knowing how to apply them.
Some of the movements and stances wouldn't work if you use them literally; they are practised for the neurological and physical improvements that they effect.

Unfortunately, the Japanese and Korean martial art forms are very antiquated and wont work well in a real world situation. They are good for basics and for children. Ed Parkers Kenpo is the top of the heap for functionality. An orange belt in Kenpo would beat a black belt in tae kwan do. I really would suggest switching if you want the best self defense.

i have yet to come accross anyone in tkd that is wealthy because of it! if its easy to make so much money then why do all the instructors have full time jobs and teach tkd after hours..i can only speak from the people i have encountered in ireland but i believe if they got no money at all they would still give classes its passing on a martial art its invaluable.

thats in other types of taekwondo.i do I.T.F. and you have to work hard to grade for each belt or youll fail and you wont get your belt if you dont know your pattern a sparring etc well...and also all the theory and the proper korean words.its definatley not easy especially when you get past my belt (green ) it gets harder every grading.i have seen kids online get belts for really bad patterns but its not I.T.F.were very serious about tkd
