    You would need to work on these muscles and get them more flexible. They have lost the flexibility because you don't use them, and regular Western shoes actually shorten the muscles by elevating the heel.

    It's actually because it's natural for us to do. My two year old niece can do it, and she doesn't have a bit of Asian in her. She'll lose the ability when she gets a bit older, because in Australia it's not really common to do it.

    in Asia they have squat toilets. It's actually healthier for your bumbum because it opens your err... hole better. I'm sure there's more technical terms but, yeah.

    This doesn't explain why there are shoe prints on the toilet seats in the bathroom at work..they use the Asian Squat to drop a deuce?..

    I think this squat is genetic my son who is 3 years old does it perfectly and stays there for a long time i believe its because he's half korean his grandmother can do it and his great grandmother who passed away was able to do it as well

    Yes, those with longer legs and shorter torsos will have more trouble sitting in the bottom of a deep squat than those with longer torsos and shorter legs. Asian people in general have a longer torso shorter legs build which may make this more comfortable for them. I should be the same but am not simply due to terrible hip flexibility which I am working on.

    Does it have anything to do with leg length? I don't specify height, because I know short people with long legs and short torsos, and tall people with short legs and tall torsos. So I think leg length is most relevant. Anyway, I have long legs, and I feel extremely uncomfortable doing this. I feel like my knees are sticking way up. It feels really bizarre and abnormal. Other people with long legs made the same complaint. Maybe that's how the two dif squats originated? Differences in avg height.
