  • Shame this song didn't get included in Fallout New Vegas. It really fits with the whole "western" theme.

  • The bassline to this song will strike your very core.

  • Have loved this version (with sound effects) since day one when I bought the 45. Duane Eddy's more recent version is really good too. I edited this and at the 22 second mark, when the band comes it, took about 1/20th of a second off one channel. Sounds like it is in a big echo chamber. Awesome!

  • In my 60+ years I think I have heard nearly every recording of this tune and the top four are 1. The Ramrods 2. Vaughn Monroe 3. Blues Brothers 2000 4. Frankie Laine. There are some other really good ones out there but I feel like those four are the best. I'm open to suggestion on the topic (Suggestion NOT arguement please).

  • On January 9th 1961 The Ramrods' "(Ghost) Riders In The Sky" entered Billboard's Hot Top 100; it peaked at #30 and spent 9 weeks in the Top 100.

Vaughn Monroe's version was the most successful; on May 14th 1949 it reached #1 and stayed in the top spot for 11 weeks...

Other charted versions were; Burl Ives {#21 in 1949 & the original version}, Bing Crosby {#14 in 1949}, Peggy Lee {#2 in 1949}, Lawrence Welk {#87 in 1961}, The Baja Marimba Band {#52 in 1966}, and The Outlaws {#31 in 1961}...
