On May 19, 2008, as part of the Promise of Reason Conference, Cary Nelson and David Horowitz formally debate the issue of whether freedom to teach and learn flourishes in American universities. This inaugural Contrarian Forum is introduced by David Frank, UO Professor in the Robert D. Clark Honors College. Opening remarks by David W. Wilson, President of Northwest Christian College, cosponsor of the conference. The debate is preceded by a video produced by UO student Rebecca Purris, and rhetorical scholars Barbara Warnick (University of Pittsburgh) and Michael C. Leff (University of Memphis) provide commentaries on the debate.
@Silicondoc Ya... its incredible that this man is in a high post in our society. That was such a stupid, easy and boring beginning. He made a series of assertions and backed them up with anecdote... this is a professor... an 'academic'. Sometimes this world overwhelms me; its so unbelievable.

I note the AAUP (Ameri Ass Univ Profess) President takes the left wing position and argument. His first bleating left smear was " McDonald's, Starbucks, or Halliburton" - next he moved onto railing against 2 "right wing" Professors. After that he "announced his presidency". Now, I haven't finished even his first 20 minutes, but already I know his very characterizations and what he said CONFIRMS beyond any reasonable doubt David Horowitz's position on this matter. We see here ultimate irony.
