The legendary founder of Washin-Ryu Karate, Master Hidy Ochiai came to New York in 1989 to teach a seminar. Here's an interview and demonstration with Master Ochiai.
I began with the WB Dojo just over three years ago under Mr. Rodgers, Mr. Schwartz is now current instructor. I believe in everything Washin-Ryu stands for and I couldn't have chosen a better school or style to enroll myself and two daughters in. Having trained and tested under Master Ochiai has been and will continue to be an enlightening experience.
from 2:25 very wise words! I am, in my own eyes, a pacifist. But I also believe in what he's saying here. Avoid violence, but when there is no escape or better ways, one has the right to defend both yourself and your loved ones! :)
Im a former member of the Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania Branch School. I started under Mr. Bruce White, and then onto Mr. Richard Rodgers, and now Mr. Chris Schwartz instructs. I do miss Washin Ryu immensely and it has taught me a great deal of self defence, and in life. The 12 years spent, with Sensei Ochiai and Washin-Ryu were the best years, and ones I will never forget.
More power to you Master Hidy Ochiai!

lol, he mopped the floor with me one time b/c I was getting too cocky when sparring other people. Wish I could have stuck with it...

I was a child when I trained with Master Ochiai. He taught Washin-Ryu and Judo.
I remember being amazed at what he could do.
