  • Nice panel!

  • Yes .... On the second start attempt of the left engine, you can hear the whine of the fuel pump as it's switched ON. .... If you like the restoration work (by Ezell Aviation) on this P38, please google Ezell Aviation, warbird restorations.

  • FLYING BULL P38-- Instrument Panel now sports some modern equipment: GPS Garmin 530/580,Tru-Trak autopilot and digital 406mhz ELT (satellite based). ... From historical records, Charles Walling flew THIS Lightning to a second place in the 1947 Sohio Trophy Race and this P38 was called "Sky Ranger" at the time (before it was called "White Lightnin'"). ... You can view all the P38's that were in that race including N25Y at AirRace.com.

  • redbull made it worthless

  • Kind of like a 92 series Detroit with an altitude compensator.

  • @1964corvan

You are correct. The GE Turbochargers. Turbo's are powered by exhaust, supers are powered by the engine and an intergrated part of the Allison. I get the two confused sometimes! The P-38 had both, but Red Bull only has the Supers.

  • @gibbage1 its the turbos that are not hooked up! them allisons could never run without the supercharger

  • Sort of sounds like a big rig without the GE Superchargers installed.
