Not really. Tony and I have each owned both (I bought the DR from him), and it's really '6-of-one-1/2-dozen-the-other'. Both suspensions are equally sucky, there isn't as big of a weight difference as people think, and IMO the KLR is slightly better balanced. We're talking about the pre-08 here... The DR is less of a dirt bike than it looks and the KLR is a better dirt bike than it looks. Anything else is in peoples' heads.
