In protest of the execution of Oreo, the "miracle dog" who survived being thrown off a Brooklyn rooftop, only to be nursed to health by the ASPCA then put to death while credible sanctuaries were willing to adopt her for life and further rehabilitate her, activists in New York City visited the home of Ed Sayres, president of the ASPCA.

Additionally, last week the ASPCA executed another pit bull named Max, and once again a sanctuary had stepped forward and offered to take Max and give them a home for life. Once again the ASPCA, under the direction of the unqualified and unlicensed "behaviorist" Victoria Wells and President Ed Sayres, decided to kill the dog anyways and snub the efforts of real *no-kill* organizations.

Until the ASPCA changes their euthanization policies and the parties responsible for Oreo's death - Ed Sayres, the president and Victoria Wells, the unlicensed behaviorist - resign, the protests will continue.

  • I'd be willing to bet you don't even know the name of the beast who threw Oreo out the window, much less attended/protested his trial. But nah, it's just easier to yell at some middle aged guy on the Upper East Side of an animal welfare org actually doing the real work. So while you stand with signs, .it bulls are still tortured (u know you're not setting foot in those 'hoods), and puppy mills a.k.a. pet stores selling puppies still thrive. U guys, useless.

  • Fabian Henderson. And yes, his trial was attended and protested, as well as his recent sentencing, though it was postponed. We'll be there at the next sentencing as well. Thanks for the idiocy.

  • Tell you what, I was at the ASPCA the night you protested outside their front doors. Mid November, maybe the 12th to be exact. While a woman sang, I asked one of the protestors the name of the crimminal who tortured Oreo. She didn't have a clue, not one. But she did hand me a flyer.

  • a woman sang?

  • She sang. Look, we agree/disagree, hate on the ASPCA, but you can't refute the work they accomplish on behalf of animals - pet overpop', breed restrict legisl., dog fighting, grant awards to local shelters, I could go on. Their behemoth van was in my nabe last wk offering free spay/neut for low incomers. Call me when you want to out the true bad guys-pet stores selling puppies. I've been on too many pupp mill raids, and these stores are the real vehicles of torture that people support everyday.

  • Thank you for doing this!
