I bought my old guitar back! This G&L was purchased by me in 2010, and traded in on a Hamer V almost exactly 1 year ago. I liked it quit a bit, but I had 3 Tele-style guitars and wanted to try the V. Well, I saw some old clips and realized how great this guitar was. The shop I traded it to still had it!! I just got it back today, and was inspired by the fantastic tone from the big MFD single coil pickups. Here I am jamming on a new song and riff idea in drop D tuning.

  • hey man, looking to get a guitar that fills the gap inbetween my strat and lp...this sounds GREAT tbh! is there quite a big difference in how much gain you get from these pups compared to standard single coils?? im looking for a bit more clarity than my humbuckers on the lp but more gain than the strat...playing stuff like Pearl Jam style...any info/advice would be great man! cheers

  • @bellers

Thanks, yeah it is a good mix of sc clarity and cut and humbucker punch and fatness. It would be great for a Pearl Jam-type thing. They're very articulate pickups, and not very noisy in my guitar, compared to some P90s I have. They along the same idea as those, as far as a fatter type of single coil. Love how they handle gain as well as having a sweet clean tone. Check 'em out.

  • I think the guitar looks pretty weird/awkward, but the sound is just insane.

  • @notuern

Yea, it's an interesting looking guitar (actually has a beautiful flame top and birdseye neck), but the tone and feel is why I bought it (twice!).

  • 3:42-3:48... wanker :p Good playing sir

  • @everlight389

    Couldn't help myself there...:) Thanks.

  • @giantrobot9000 Hey man, got my G&L! Put my first video up of it today, let me know what you think, I tried to put it as a video response but not sure if it worked! Cheers

  • @markdeaton

I'm getting something very soon. I can't wait to start doing just that. I've recorded some parts for other people, but now I get to do my own stuff (finally!!!). The goal is a 5-song EP by this summer. I'll share some clips on here, too. Thanks-Matt

  • The sound is beyond insane. The guy at my music store tried to get me to buy one, but I got another Telecaster... that said, this sounds incredibly 'effing good. Nice played dude.

  • @couthon

I did, but I ended up finally parting it out. The body is in Sweden, the neck in Pennsylvania.......have a Les Paul Goldtop on layaway I need to pay off! Next year, I'm gonna either build or buy another dedicated shred axe, though. Still want a Charvel.....

  • Where's the strat man? I thought you were gonna buy that back?

  • this is awesome! sick riffage man

  • woah... some crazy chords you got in there. Good stuff.

  • @giantrobot9000 It probably looks better irl.. you cant really see the flamed top or birdseye maple. It actually looks like the opposite in the video: Ungrained/flat material.

And the tone and feel is what makes you keep a guitar anyways, not the looks. :)

Im lucky with my guitars(Aria Pro II's of various models.), because they all look metal and have amazing tone and feel(For me that is.). :)
