Backyard Blitz - Nick Pwns SL & SH (short action film)

Nick pwns SL & SH a few times over with his collection of weapons. A goofy vid serving as a series of vfx tests and action staging pratice. The footage was shot unplanned and in about 20 minutes. Visual FX took just under a week of tooling about in my spare time. I was never able to finish it as a HDD crash took the project with it, but here's what got done. There were no 'Action Essentials' elements used in the (incomplete) making of this short, but thanks to Video Co-Pilot and Andrew Kramer for a few pointers on making it happen.

My personal fave is the rocket launcher and the subsequent smoke and dust around Nick.

It would be a great help if you could tell me which exact (explosion and dust charge) you used from the action essentials 2 package. Thanks

@BeingBroham actually there was nothing from action essentials used in this clip. It hadn't yet come out. I was using stock elements (all SD) from Detonation Films. I can't remember which ones (a hdd crash has taken the project from me), so unfortunately I can't give you any pointers here. A good combination of a few elements from AE2 should do the job though.

@iJuStEriC its true! The lame muzzle flashes were bash comps in FCP that never got finished (hard drive failure).... am proud of the explosions though so thanks! :)

It's part of an old leaf blower that was found on the side of the road. No extra modifications were done on it for this lil goof off, but its had a bit of design work done to it since.

That was a pretty good short movie guys. You needed some richochets and bullet impacts on the buildings. Apart from that, good work!

@hapmoriarty lol thank you soo much for telling me about detonation. It is very useful. I am wondering though, were the stock elements u got paid for or free ones cause there are ones that you have to pay for on the site. Thanks once again. And great video

very good explosions but the camera movement was a bit jumpy. especialy when u were shooting at each other.
