The prostitute, Ashley DiPietro (legal name Ashley Rae Maika DiPietro and born Ashley Youmans)[6] 22, is a singer in New York City whose stage name is Ashley Alexandra Dupré. According to her personal MySpace page (under the name of Dupré) she said,"When I was 17, I left home. It was my decision and I've never looked back. [...] I have been broke and homeless. But, I survived, on my own. I am here, in NY because of my music."[28] DiPietro's mother, Carolyn Capalbo, told the New York Times that her daughter "was a young kid with typical teenage rebellion issues, but we are extremely close now." Capalbo said she was "shell-shocked" when her daughter called to tell her she had been working as a paid companion and presently was speaking with legal authorities. Capalbo was not sure that DiPietro knew at the time that her pre-Valentine's Day Washington, D.C., customer was the Governor of New York. "She is a very bright girl who can handle someone like the governor," Capalbo said. "But she also is a 22-year-old, not a 32-year-old or a 42-year-old, and she obviously got involved in something much larger than her.
