What would be an appropriate soft box for food and product photography. The few videos online would lead me to believe they are small to medium for on location shoots. How do I match the appropriate size of the softbox to the size of the subject?

Good question. It all depends on what your doing. I have used an extra large box to give me a clean highlight on the side of a bottle and a small box to create a hard rim on a plate of food. Highlight size and quality of light are very important. No right size, if there is time then any size can work for you.

Nice video! Very informative. I recently bought a set of softboxes, they're 16 X 24, are they considered small or medium? And should they be orioriented up and down or sideways, or does it matter?

In our tests it would be considered a small.

Just want an answer from your end, but what settings do you usually find yourself shooting at when using soft boxes?

It depends on the power of the strobes and how close to the subject you are. I usually shoot at f8 and 1/60 of a second.

I just bought a 60x60m/24x24" softbox, is that considered small or medium? My question is if that is a small softbox, how can be the shadows be softened? Thank you for posting this video, I hope to see what a softbox has to offer.. :)
