i want to refinish mine but i dont want to take the serial number off the back. how can i do this

Looks cool!
But why does a majority of YT guitar videos start and end without hardware and electronics??? If aliens a million years from now start digging in the soil of the Earth and find a old internet computer (yeah, I know ...) they will have no idea that all those shiny and colorful slabs of wood are musical instruments. They'll more likely think it some kind of clubs or weapon used by the primitive race living on earth haha.
Why not take it from old guitar to new guitar all the way ?

good luck

ruined good guitar

In all the restorations and refinishes I've seen they always sand down or remove the serial number almost all the time!

does anybody have an sg body or neck for sale i want to sand it down and stain it chery im only will to pay 50 fot it
-
could you please tell me what you use for the clear coat and how you apply it?
if you can tell me it would be great.
cheers.

i plan on getting this guitar in black Jackson JS32R Dinky, and staining it red burst they make it in a sunburst but when i sand it down is to going to have the same quilted look as the burst or is it just going to be plain wood

i refinished a precission bass a friend gave me , i sanded then primed ,then put 9 coats of black laquer wet sanded then added 6 coats of clear laquer,, came out awsome! added all new tuners ,electronics , babinga wood pick guard done in cherry , chrome and gold accents , custom pinstripping and added thomas edison waterslides to it!

the burst is cool but i get the impression that you didn't wet sand the guitar

@ralfcaetano if you look at 1:45 - 2:06 it shows the wet sand after the first clear coat, and 2:24 - 2:34 show the wet sand before the third clear coat.

if you are going to such a dark burst on a nice guitar, practice first. im sorry but it turned out a bit slopy but it is decent for a first timer

How do I reach that particular color on 0:04. Can I just use power the sand to remove the finish or it's also something else you use? I want to apply this finish to my old Squier P Bass, make some vintage sratches and eventually turning it into Relic.

@CubeableGame at 0:04? thats what the guitatr looked like before i started.samebody had striped it down to the mahogany and badly applied a clear coat finish with a brush.
