Castlevania 3 - 32:52 With Syfa/Trevor (Part 1 of 4)

This video represents two of my four speed runs on "Castlevania 3: Dracula's Curse" for NES. It takes the path of partnering up with Syfa.

Because I rarely use this partner, this run is almost exactly the same as what I do when playing without any partners. To prevent repetition, the partnerless run will not be uploaded. Instead, consider this a 2-for-1 run. :)

There are multiple paths/endings in this game, depending on which character you choose as a partner (if any). Separate speed run categories exist for each ending.

I thought it was a pretty weak ruling myself. It's not like "Bledsoe" unlocks some secret character that chucks footballs all over the screen but moves really slowly. Word for word, here are the rules:

Names and Passwords are BANNED! [This is due to being able to start the game with one of the 3 Spirit Partners without having to meet/find them] Leeching money bags/hearts is BANNED!!

I have since achieved a non-verified max-out, and believe me, I learned not to type in ANYTHING for a name.

@JeffCirillo Can you PM me a link to these rules? The text I read last night was slightly different. I'll have a look and bring it up with Twin Galaxies. This just isn't right, especially since my run was accepted with names!

If you submitted this to Twin Galaxies it technically should have been disqualified for using "Tom S" as your name. I typed in "Bledsoe" and had my score disqualified because of it :(

I'm hoping to put up some V.C. speed runs for this, but I know I won't be approaching your nearly flawless runs.

@JeffCirillo Really? I just reread the rules. You shouldn't have been DQ'ed for entering "Bledsoe". The rules only disallow "secret" names, not name entry in general. The banned secret names are the ones that are actually codes. For example, entering "Help Me" as your name starts the game with 10 lives instead of 3. Also, entering "Grant" starts the game with Grant as your character, but WITHOUT Trevor! Things like that are banned, but name entry should not be.

Too bad you couldn't have taken your SDA video and split it up, adding commentary with a mic or something to that effect... the video is so much nicer. I LOVE your grant run... it shows how brokenly awesome Grant is.

Yep, that would have been ideal. I just don't have the technology for that yet. :(

And I like Grant too!

All you would need is a mic, since you likely have a built in video editor on your computer (either Windows Movie Maker or the Mac's equivalent that is in a lot of newer laptops).
