Dale Tingey has spent decades helping generations of Native Americans. His love for the Native American people began when he was an LDS mission president in the Southwest. He served 18 years as the director of the Institute of American Indian Services at BYU, recruiting more than 600 Native American students. Since retirement in 1989, he has volunteered full-time as the director of American Indian Services. He served on the Utah Governor's Board of Indian Affairs and assisted with state financial efforts in Native American business ventures. In addition to raising millions of dollars for scholarships for Native American students, he has sponsored hundreds of agricultural and business projects on reservations throughout the Western states, Canada and New Mexico.

Pres. Tingey was my mission president when I arrived to serve the Navajo nation as a young 19 year old LDS Missionary. He was an inspiration to all of us and a great leader. Randy T. Reber
