Of course it's difference of opinion.

ME2's biggest problem is that it barely had a plot to speak of; it was all character, character, character, while the Reaper plot got completely neglected.

Another problem was that nothing developed; everyone just forgot about the Reapers. Your old squad-mates went back to doing stupid things, as if ME1 never happened.

ME1 was definitely written better and had a better plot than ME3, but taking into account vastly superior gameplay, fun multiplayer along with everything else it edges it for me, though it is arguable. ME2 beats both for me, definitely.

No. ME2 & 3 had more refined shooting mechanics; but Mass Effect 1 was the better written of the three.

Yes. Overall, it's a better game. In order, overall, taking gameplay, plot and everything else into account;

ME2 > ME3 > ME1.
