A Verizon worker was killed Friday when his utility bucket hit live electrical wires. The man's name was withheld until family members are notified.
Fire officials said they believe the worker is a Plymouth resident.
Deputy Fire Chief Martin Enos said the man was working on lines on South Meadow Road just west of Jan Marie Drive about 3:45 p.m. Friday when he apparently raised the bucket too high and hit live electrical wires.
The incident was initially called in as a transformer explosion, but when firefighters arrived they discovered it was much worse. A utility pole was across the road and downed wires stretched 100 yards along the road.

  • No job is so important and no service is so urgent that we cannot take the time to perform them safely.

Thoughts and prayers to the family.

  • He was probably rushing to make sure he got his 4 completes for the day, hoping Verizon didn't sell his area out from under him before he could retire for his family! I know I speak for all our union brothers when I say our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. Rest in peace.

  • "Can you hear me now?" ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!

  • "It was really shocking" ZING

  • RIP FELLOW ELECTRICIAN BROTHER

  • You know it is sad that these men are dying trying to get in their jobs everyday. My husband is an installer and Verizon pushes these men/women so hard. We are now experiencing the whole "selling his are out and it is rough!" Our thoughts and prayers are with this family and the families of all the others busting their butts out there on a daily basis!

  • My heart goes out to the family who lost their loved one in this tragedy. However, this video should not be on here. This mans loved ones should never have to see this. My husband is a FIOS installer and seeing this makes me scared for him to go to work everyday.

  • Prayers and thoughts go to his family....God bless from another Verizon CWA/IBEW brother...

  • Mary's hot!

  • Dear God. I have the same type truck he has. All I could do was sit here in silence thinking of my children not having a father coming home at the end of the day. I pray that his family is coming through it ok. I'm so sorry for your loss.

  • Can you hear me now? Hello?
