@CycleDub As usual you'll go to any lengths to avoid reality. Your'e so brain washed by your bicycle you can't even admit the obvious by answering a straight simple question.
-
@FEXRO I don't see any point in answering a question from someone who is unable to debate an issue without resorting to personal abuse. Let me know if or when you're ready to have a sensible discussion on this matter.
-
@CycleDub Do want to answer the question or are you in fear of actually admitting how much cyclist contribute to their own death and injury by their behaviour. If your'e going to bring up statistics then you can start by providing them.
-
@FEXRO Are you denying that the number of people killed or injured by cyclists is a tiny fraction of the number of people killed or injured by motor vehicles?
-
@CycleDub Are you denying that cycling at night without lights is dangerous, reckless and substantially increases the likelihood of accidents?
-
@FEXRO What defies logic is focusing on the cause of one death in a decade, as opposed to the cause of one death every day. You're missing the 'big picture' that you're so fond of quoting to others.
-
@CycleDub You can't be very well qualified to comment on cyclists behaviour if you have no idea of the dangers of cycling at night without lights. It's one of the most dangerous things a cyclists can do which risks injury to themselves and others. See Dublin's Bicycle Ghost Riders. One person crossing O'Connell street at night stopped for less than a few minutes and that's the result. If the "big dangers" are cars then how can being seen by cars at night be a low priority That just defies logic

@CycleDub That's the point: the State has no money. Cycle wardens would be self financing. Fines could be on the spot and lowered to a level that's affordable and reflects the level of the offence. One warden handing out on the spot fines, as things are at present, would cover his costs in an hour. There are already people employed by DCC as street ambassadors giving directions to tourists. There are more than enough tourists information shops in the centre of the city as it is.
I think that people are far too prescriptive when it comes to lanes etc. Basically i think people put too much emphasis on dwelling within the rules. Just because a bus has a red light doesn't mean you should step out in front of them to prove a point. Conversely just because a pedestrian jaywalks doesn't mean you can drive over them. Get rid of the lanes and the zones and give all road users equal rights of way and it forces everyone to take more care and to travel more slowly.

@hueyk So what effect would that have at Walkinstown roundabout or any junction in Dublin city?
