  • Question. Why didn't you shut the lid on the grill? The heat would be all around the metal tin. Charring the cloth much faster, you could check the tin for smoke every 2 or 3 minutes. My grill gets real hot very fast with the lid closed.

  • Could you cool the can with water (of course not letting water INSIDE the can) since it will quite quickly lose the heat to cool water?

  • where did u get tht fire striker at? i like it it is way better than a coleman striker

  • you would make better char cloth if you used a higher temp. if you use smaller holes the flame wont go inside the tin! and like he said when the smoke stop its done.

  • @cutlerylover what tempature do u set the propane grill at?

  • A lot of techniques recommend putting something over the hole like a coin or a rock to prevent air getting into the canister while it's cooling. Just my $0.02.

  • You must have inhaled some of those fumes because "adviced" is definitely not a word -- perhaps you meant "advised."

  • one word. Wow. three words actually... no six. Now eight. -gaaah NEVERMIND!

  • does it matter if the container is plain or colored? (like will the color peel off, burn up, cause more toxic fumes, etc.?)

  • @Zyrog They work very well....one spark from the steel and they jump to flame
