OK, I got these off ebay & I've never had seen this instrument in person before, but from what I can tell, they're a bit cheap. I could be wrong and this could just be the standard quality of them so don't get me wrong!

Either way, I wasn't exactly sure what to expect when I ordered them. I've recently been checking out this amazing artist who plays and makes a variety of instruments and he has a few videos of himself playing these and is just awesome!
I knew I had to try them out and I would have bought the set from him if I had the money, but I'm pretty poor :p I went out on a limb getting these even for 35 bucks!
Either way, they are a lot of fun and it'll take awhile getting used to them I'm sure and like I said, Maybe I'll do my own modifying on them to make them a little more comfortable to play.

Anyways, enough with my video, just rate and sub and all that junk and after you're done, make sure you go check out the guy I found this through, Vladiswar Nadishana...why? Because like I said, he's just amazing to see what he can do with one....it blew me away!
Here's his youtube page and from there, you can find his site where you can view all his different instruments, see reviews on them, some preview vids and if you're interested, buy some and then show em' off on youtube!!!

If you guys have any ideas or tips on how to hold it better, or playing tips, I'm always open for comments:)

  • I think the holder for the Kou xiang is better to play with. Another thing is u can put them together how ever u want. But one thing i never will get is to play with more then 2 fingers^^.

To all who is interested in Kou Xiang, go to DAN MOI !!!

I bought the chromatic set D-D. Fantastic

  • The holder?

I don't have a holder for it other than the carrying barrel. There doesn't seem to be anyway the barrel could be used to play with.

But I do imagine there'd be a way to make something to hold them while playing to make it much easier!

I think 3 fingers isn't toooo hard but 2 is definitely a lot easier!

When you say go to Dan Moi do you mean switch instruments?

  • is this the set from danmoivn?

  • Yup!

  • Bravo!!

I never saied u should switch cs i dont know the diffenrence between the other and Dan Moi´s. greets

  • Yes off ebay!

  • no, blowing isn't required. you pluck the blade and it vibrates. While held in front of your open mouth, your mouth acts like a voicing chamber and some what amplifies the sound. Depending on the shape you make with your mouth also slightly changes the pitch. blowing into them makes for a neat effect though it's still difficult to get that added into plucking and changing my mouth shape.

  • so you blow on it while you fiddle its feathers with your fingers, thats it?
