The Truck Driver Training Program became a part of the curriculum at Bevill State Community College during the spring of 1967 and over time has evolved into one of the most popular programs offered at the College. With the cooperation of the State Board of Education and the Alabama Truck Driving Association, Bevill State has been able to provide a much needed service to the rapidly expanding trucking industry. In 1990, the College became a third-party testing site for Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Testing. The Bevill State Community College's Truck Driver Training Program is located on the Sumiton Campus.
