This is the reason why a lot of European towns are now seriously looking at CHP (combined heat and power) generation facilities.
Also Arab countries are now adopting the Spanish solar power station model.
King Hussein of Jordan in a recent interview with Radio Netherlands stated that they plan to build solar power stations all the way from the Levant to Morocco. This will produce enough power to satisfy Europe's electrical energy needs 100 times over.

Our power grid is not only dangerous but extremely susceptible to attack by terrorists. We do need to localize our power this way not as much power is wasted in transmission losses as this video shows

Excellent, I'm trying to find a way to sell electricity on the farm I'm building.
However, I suggest you leave the electorial college out of it. It's an entirely different matter. Second, without it, if you live outside major urban centers, you will have no voice. Some people will tell you that because the international bankers own the means to produce money, you have no voice. But that is another matter.
Lastly, this was never ment to be a democracy. It is a republic.
