As of Thursday 12/17, Soo Line 2064 (Milwaukee Road-painted "Bandit" GP40) and SOO 4451 (GP38-2) are still working the Canadian Pacific's M&P turn from Portage to Madison and back.

I got off work early (1:30 PM) and knew it was about time for the return trip on an average day, so I drove south on County CV, looking to my left at each intersection until I saw flashing crossing signals. I turned around and tried to get a shot at the next crossing to the north, but my digital camera was still cold from being in the car all day and wouldn't power up. I held it in front of my car heater vent and got it to record at the next crossing, Vinburn Road on the south edge of DeForest.

I had to stop for gas at the station across the street, and the train just barely beat me to Morrisonville. I went on to Arlington and used the fire hydrant near the WI. Hwy. 60 crossing as a makeshift tripod.

Wish they'd have rung the bell... :-(
