Shooting a round of my hunting hand loads out of my Marlin 45/70. These loads have a very stout recoil. They are a 405gr LFPGC (lead flat nose gas check) bullet and Hodgdon H4198 powder. I do not know the velocity on these loads as I have no chonographed them yet. These loads are a far cry from the factory ammo that you can get, that's unless you buy Buffalo Bore or Grizzly Ammo. I guess you could consider this "magnum" 45/70 ammo. All I know is that it'll drop a deer faster than a sack of bricks! I have XS ghost ring sights and an xs scout mount. The scope is a Nikon 2.5-8x and the rings Warne QR rings.

  • @Mrjalapenothethird The sights are plenty accurate. Some people will lead you to believe that they are not accurate, but that's a lie. I can shoot 2.5" groups at 125yds with them. There are be more accurate sights, but these are easy to see, fast and plenty accurate. If you want more accuracy than these sights, get a scope. These sights work perfect for my set up.

  • I just got an 1895 and am really excited to shoot it. Im considering changing the sites and was wondering how accurate is the ghost ring site? Is it accurate enough to shoot a pie plate at 100 yards? ( i am just a plinker). Thanks
