  • who the hell would make that when you could make a pronged spear that works much better

  • @jollygreengiant820 The Inuit actually preferred them to 3 and 4 pronged spears for two reasons. 1) the backward hook held the fish better, especially on larger ones that slipped off, and 2) Actually the biggest reason; pronged spears often pop the bladders inside the fish spewing waste from the intestinal tract and stomach thereby tainting the meat.

  • @antagonizerr Meat isn't tainted if it's grilled over an open flame, IDIOT

  • @nickdrowe If you want to dip your food in feces then grill it after, by all means feel free.

  • I think this not a very effective spear, because you must trow it perfect from above. Otherwise it would push the fish away.

  • @antagonizerr i reckon that would work really well

  • wont those hooks break off really easily

  • That way, according to my thinking anyhow, you can easily get the fish onto the spear when you catch it, but because of sharp “teeth” pointing in the opposite direction, up against your hand, the fish is trapped in the teeth with its flesh.

Cut it like. Pointing end of spear, ½ up make 2 backwards teeth facing north and south, ½ inch up make another 2 teeth pointing east and west, ½ inch up and make again 2 teeth pointing north and south.

  • My idea is… what if instead of the hooks you have to tie onto the spear, you make the hooks inside the spear itself? Can only be done if you got a knife I believe, but. If you make the ending of the spear, that is to go through the fish and catch it, then from that point on and about ½ inch above the tip of the spear, you cut the spear into a sort of a saw, just backwards. Sharp like a sharks teeth pointing up against where you hold the spear with your hand.

  • Just an idea for the spear, but it’s something I’ve been thinking about for a while, watching videos inhere about spear fishing and the spears to create for the use.

As you say, the hooks can´t hold forever, so they will have to be replaced sooner or later with a pair of new hooks. I haven’t been able to try out my idea myself, but feel free to try it out. If it works, GREAT!!
