RAINSONG volunteers concocted this spoof on a christmas carol,
featuring the 'TEPEZQUINTLE', the largest rodent in CENTRAL AMERICA, which is already extinct in our area of Costa Rica due to poaching.
also known as PACA, these timid beautiful creatures are an extremely important link in the food chain in tropical forests.

Prized by poachers for their 'delicious' flesh, they have been hunted into extinction in many areas of Costa Rica and Central America.
RAINSONG has a successful program of reproduction for re-introduction of this species.
In AUGUST 2010 we released 4 pregnant females [unrelated] and a young juvenile male.
the group had already bonded into a family unit.
poachers know better than to hunt on the RAINSONG SANCTUARY property, so we hope to see a lot more tepes on the sanctuary.
several of these released tepes regularly visit the volunteers' kitchen scraps compost area nightly.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS ! and HAPPY TEPES !
