Kaitlyn Maher - Dreams Comes True
Also the first song she wrote and based on:
Kaitlyn Got to See the "Sparkles Come Down!"
It was April of 2008 and we were driving up to New York getting ready for Kaitlyn's first audition. "America's Got Talent" had contacted us and asked four-year-old Kaitlyn to audition for the show. Kaitlyn had for a couple years wanted to be in the children's choir at church but was too young, and we thought this would be a fun learning experience -- she would get a chance to sing before some folks who would give her good input and then we'd be on our way.
It was on the drive to NYC that an excited Kaitlyn piped up from the back seat with a much bigger dream filling her blue sky imagination. Her goal was simple. "Mommy and Daddy, I just want to see the sparkles come down at the end" (i.e. she wanted to see the confetti fall at the finale). Kaitlyn then did what she knows to do about something that's important in one's life -- she prayed a simple prayer to God.
Fast forward many performances later to October 1, 2008... Kaitlyn stood on the stage at the finale of the world's biggest talent show and indeed got to watch the "sparkles" rain down on her. This may not be a big deal to some, but to her, this was her goal accomplished -- her prayer answered. The odds were remote at best that a four-year-old could take part in a national talent contest, earn her way into the Top 10 Finalists' round, and get asked to participate in the finale -- except for the simple faith of a child.
Kaitlyn is now five years old and continues to inspire others with her passion for life. We want to encourage you that when you have a need or challenge in life that appears too big, remember the faith of a child who knew that God is not too big to care about the little things. If He cared enough to let Kaitlyn see her sparkles come down, don't you think He cares for you?
Adapted from her debut album 'You Were Meant to Be'
