Satellites, computers and other technologies play an important role in conservation research. Dr. Richard Bergl, the North Carolina Zoological Park's Curator of Research, uses handheld computers and CyberTracker software to study Cross River Gorillas in Africa. With the CyberTracker system, Bergl is able to better understand gorilla migration, the state of their forest habitat, and many other issues central to the species' future.
