The U.S. Embassy, Keren Kayemet Leisrael (KKL-JNF and JNF-USA), the city of Jerusalem and families of victims, gathered at the "9/11 Living Memorial" site at Emek Arazim on the western side of the outskirts of Jerusalem, to commemorate 10 years to the terror attacks of September 11, 2001.
"No one can understand our pain as Israel can" said U.S. Ambassador Shapiro to more than 100 people, which included politicians, families of some of the five Israeli victims, American volunteers and representatives from Israel's fire and police departments.
Ambassador Dan Shapiro and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attended the opening of "Ground Zero for 30 Days" - a photo exhibition to mark the ten year commemoration of the 9/11 terror attacks. The U.S. Embassy's Office of Public Affairs has sponsored the exhibition of photographs by U.S.-Israeli photographer Robby Berman who was at the site of the World Trade Towers as the second tower fell and depicting the first days after the September 11, 2001 terror attacks.
As a Sar El Volunteer for the Israel Defense Forces in Israel I had the priviledge of attending this very meaningful ceremony of solidarity between Israel and the USA.
