[I would be grateful if you watched this Video HQ]
This is a Tribute to my Border Collie, Trixi, who died November 24th 2008, only six years old.
Seven Months before, her brother died of an enlarged heart, the two weeks after he died, we found out that Trixi had cancer in her liver called Soft Tissue Sarcoma.
A Fatal cancer that could only get rid of by Chemo therapy but it cost $2000.00 dollars.
We Didn't have the money to get it done and so we made her last living moments as beautiful and as fun as possible [Keeping her high on pain pills too] for the next seven months.
I filmed her and even on the day she was going to be put down which is the end of movie when I tell her goodbye for the last time.

  • I am sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing. She looks like "Sarah - My Border Collie" That is the name of my video on this sight. Is there a club in Los Angeles for Border Collie owners? Did Trixie sleep with you? My Doberaman Pinchers, and my late Dalmatian slept with me, but my Border Collie won't. How do I get her to sleep on the bed with me, instead of on the floor next to it. Again, I am very sorry for your great loss.

  • @DonDurkee Yes she did sleep with me I had her since she was a pup so she always slept under my arm like stuffed animal. I watched your vid of Sarah, she's beautiful! If you got Sarah when she's a bit older then she was probably already taught to stay off of bed. A good way to train her is have you invite her on the bed everytime you're in the room always get here to stay on that bed.

  • @DonDurkee Another good step is to lay on the bed and pat the bed saying "Bedtime" or "Bed" [this is what I did for my border collie] once they are trained with that word they will establish what that word means. Once they are on the bed have them go where you want too, like the end or beside you. Start with naps first because those are shorter than Night sleeps. Be constant don't give up eventually she'll be sleeping next to you. Border collies are extremely easy to train.

  • Beautiful tribute. Trixie was a lucky dog to have you as an owner. Take care.

  • thankyou

  • This brought back the day I had to have Samantha put down. Her liver had packed in and she was suffering badly.

On the day she was to be put down she seemed to revive and be like her old self. But the vet said that wouldn't last so I did what I thought was kindest.

Since that day I've always felt a pang of guilt. Kinda like I signed her life away. Still have wonderful memories of her, though, and have a male border collie now, Nacho.

  • I think it's best to end suffering or end it before you know they will grow in despair. What you did for Samantha was a big emotional dispute between yourself, I know, but in reality it was the best choice because now she's in a better place and someday you will see her again. Thank you for watching my baby girl's video.

  • So sad you lost both of your Border Collies passed away at such a young age. I miss my Border Collie from my childhood, we were born the same year (1970) and I still miss him dearly, RIP Charlie : ( Most of my childhood pictures, he's always sitting close to me as he was very protective of me. He never nipped at me, we took him camping, canoeing, swimming in the lakes, he was fun to be around.

  • :-(
