Ireland's love affair with Eddi Reader began when she had her first hit as lead singer with Scottish group Fairground Attraction. Since then she has toured Ireland many times and always receives a warm welcome. Now, however, she has gone step closer to becoming an honorary Irish woman by re-recording her first hit 'as gaeilge'. It was originally called 'Perfect' and now recorded as 'Foirfe'.
Is beag liom grá / atá éasca péasca
Is fearr liom duine / atá stuama suimiúil
Tán saol seo róghearr / don saobhghrá
Tuigim gur gá / rith uaidh sin go brách
cúrfa:
Ní mór dó bheith / foirfe
Is caithfidh sé bheith / fiúntach, yea
Más leor le go leor an rud bréagach mar stór
Is fearr liomsa dílseacht ná hór,
Ní mór dó bheith / yea / foirfe
Tán t-aos óg somheallta / is tá siad saonta
scaoileann a gcroíthe / ar nós na gaoithe.
Bhuel, bhí mise tráth / i móinsín mná
Ach tiocfaidh mo lá / Aimseoidh mé mo ghrá
curfá: Ní mór dó ....
Tán t-aos óg somheallta / is tá siad saonta
scaoileann a gcroíthe / ar nós na gaoithe
Bhuel, bhí mise tráth / i móinsín mná
Ach tiocfaidh mo lá / Aimseoidh mé mo ghrá
curfá: Ní mór dó ....
Ní mór dó bheith / fiúntach, ní mór dó bheith / foirfe
I don't want half-hearted love affairs,
I need someone who really cares
Life is too short to play silly games
I've promised myself, I won't do that again.
refrain:
(It's got to be perfect
It's got to be worth it, yea
Too many people take second best,
but I won't take anything less, (prefer loyalty to gold)
it's got to be perfect.)
Young hearts are foolish, they make such mistakes
they're much too eager to give their love away
well i have been foolish too many times
now i'm determined I'm going to get it right
refrain
Young hearts are foolish, they make such mistakes
they're much too eager to give their love away
well i have been foolish too many times
now i'm determined I'm going to get it right
refrain
It's got to be worth it, it's got to be perfect.
