After using the iMac 8 hours or more display starts flickering occasionally. Sometimes after flickering the display becomes corrupted as shown in this video. The problem may go away the next time the display flickers, or after putting the Mac to sleep and waking it up. There has been a firmware update from Apple that was supposed to fix this issue, but apparently it hasn't worked for my iMac (Core i7 with Radeon HD 4850)
HI,
I just buyed an imac 27 inch, tomorrow i think it arrives.
I hope to be working in normal conditions.
You'll need to take it to Apple for service, i'm sure they'll fix it.

It seems the latest firmware update from Apple has fixed the problem.

@quest8899 In general they are reliable. The iMac G4 and MacBookPro I've used gave me no trouble. The display corruption problem may be related to GPU overheating (according to some user reports), so it may be possible to work around this by increasing cooling fan speed using smcfancontrol.
I don't run into this problem often, if it really starts to bug me I will take the iMac to Apple for service, and I expect they will either fix the problem or replace the unit.
