@Swanzilla69 because the compressor turbine is spinning at how many thousands of RPM (i think it's in the high 10's of thousands, possibly 100+ from memory)
now imagine that 20 odd PSI of air, flowing back against the turbine, slowing it from, just say 100,000RPM, down to say 20,000 RPM (pulling numbers out of my ass here)
OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER, hundreds and hundreds of gear changes.... it's a very slow damage, but, of course, much faster than normal wear and tear. :)
