On 03/22/10 the Minnesota Senate passed a budget bill for the state that only addressed 30 percent of the spending the state does.
Senator Claire Robling explains in a simple, clear way the contrasts and differences between the Senate Republicans budget bill which presented a balanced budget for the state in all areas of spending across the board but was rejected and the Senate Democrats budget bill which is only one part of a piecemeal approach and did not look at the areas of health and human services and K-12 education when crafting their budget.
By not balancing all areas of the budget within existing revenues Senate Democrats demonstrated an unwillingness to prioritize spending instead choosing to raise taxes and fees on selected areas of business.
