About your 1st question I haven't any answer.

Moriarty's voice is only in the Italian and Spanish version. Italian screenplay is very different from Japanese and English. It's got much more dialogues...

Question: Why did they cut out the odd scene for the Japanese version?

I thought Sherlock Hound was animated predominately in Japan?

And since when was Moriarty on the pirate ship?!

I don't find it so horrible. I've heard the English version on dvd and it sounds quite boring to me.

Anyway it's only my opinion.

I like Mauro Bosco, the Italian voice of Moriarty.
