Noam Chomsky, professor of linguistics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and one of the foremost critics of U.S. foreign policy. Professor Chomsky discusses "Failed States: The Abuse of Power and the Assault on Democracy."

He examines how the United States is beginning to resemble a failed state that cannot protect its citizens from violence and has a government that regards itself as beyond the reach of domestic or international law.

Professor Noam Chomsky presents a series of solutions to help rescue the nation from turning into a failed state.
They include: Accept the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court and the World Court; Sign the Kyoto protocols on global warming; Let the United Nations take the lead in international crises; Rely on diplomatic and economic measures rather than military ones in confronting terror; and Sharply reduce military spending and sharply increase social spending

  • i'm from the UK originally, and it seems to me that chomsky is a US national treasure (as well, obviously, as a treasure of the human race in general). i wonder how many americans realize that.

  • What a brutally honest illustration of the Israel/Palestine situation.

  • someone needs to take over fox and get people to be more investigative. and perhaps listen to this guy.

  • People like Noam Chomsky are the conscience of humanity!!!

  • @donkey69donkey69 There are a number of us US citizens that love him, but sadly it's a small percentage of the population.

  • we fuck everyone over

  • uk has her own good intellectuals

mark curtis has written a lot on uk foreign policy

  • Are there any videos/articles where he discusses (or is able to discuss without being cut off) solutions? What are step by step actions that should be taken? Making people aware of the reality is essential, but I want to know how the world's leading intellectual proposes the problems to be fixed. If there's anyone in the world that could create a successful solution, it's Noam Chomsky.

  • Problem is that such practical matters elude him, he's more of a critic and a commentator, but he needs pragmatic political figures that pick up on his ideas. That's what's missing in all of the 'West', and that is a role that perhaps, to a great personal cost, he should have tried to take up a while ago.

  • I graduated with Aristide from Haiti :)

  • As much as I want to hear him talk on and on, I think that's partially true.
