Soviet Deep battle was better than blitzkrieg, towards the end of world war two, it was common for soviet operations to advance as much as 300 miles in five weeks. The red army was the one and true mechanised army of world war two, compared to blitzkrieg in which the main troops were hundreds of miles behind the panzer formations and horses were their main main transportation method, the soviets had hundreds of thousands of trucks which kept up with their tank armies.

@subroaolcom The American capitalist sent our job to china, they stolen our home and our freedom. NOT HITLER!

@ubermensch81 If you like governmental racism and no freedoms, sure. Stalin was awful, but can you seriously refer to the Nazis as "the good guys"?
-
@TheChromelover They thought they would win, and the USSR would collapse, before the winter came.

I find one thing very strange. If the German military think tank was so smart to come with a brilliant idea like Blitzkrieg, why didn't they forsee the winter in the Soviet Union. The German forces were COMPLETELY unprepared for the Russian winter.
If only the Generals were well prepared for the winter, USSR would've fallen and the outcome of WW2 could have been different.

@Scientist9221 Especially as the roads in Russia weren't as good as in Europe

only useful in west Europe, in russia, pushing forward too fast only create supply problems

@Kamensky93 how do you know? there was no blitzkrieg in stalingrad. hitler took over since 1941 and he no longer allowed such kinds of advances.
hitler even sent mountain brigade elite units(gebirgsjagers) to fight on flat lands
if blitzkrieg had been used in early 1941 when the generals still had command it would have been an utter success. in all battles were russians fought against a blitzkrieg they had their forces torn to shreds
best tactic in the WW2
