In my happy world of Purple I choose to believe Blackmore resents Gillan because he'd finally fond a vocalist that was musically equal to his playing but didn't look after his incredible gift of a voice to the standard wished or perhaps expected. Clnsequently, I think Blackmore felt Gillan's more laisez-faire demeanour was a form of musical and personal betrayal. Perhaps over bro-manticised, but it a version I prefer to believe.
