Guys, Top of The Pops was never Live! (with the exeption of New Order) every band on it mimed, even the greats like queen, bowie, and DM. It was a tv show not a concert, and its purpose was to promote the bands in the charts.

For that reason I love the way Ian Brown holds the mic above his head while singing "I'm no clown, I won't back down, I don't need you to tell me what's going down" I'm sure Shaun Ryder was delibrately doing the same thing for the Mondays on the same night by keeping the mic away from his mouth.
