"For vår jord" was the Norwegian entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1988, performed in Norwegian by Karoline Krüger.
The song is an environmentally-themed ballad, with Krüger describing a woman who is "standing guard for our earth". The character is described as being something of an outcast due to her beliefs, however the lyrics suggest that the woman's realisation of the need to protect the earth is something which should be shared more broadly.
At the close of voting, it had received 88 points, placing 5th in a field of 21.

@mawe1979 Wowww this is almost 100% exactly what I was going to say. This is also my 2nd all time favorite ESC entry after Kaelakee Hääl.

This is a great song with a great message. This should have won in 1988. It still sounds fresh, 22 years later, and the message is more important than ever.

What a beautiful song, and I think that Norwegian is a beautiful language as well. I hope that the Norwegians will offer us a unique show in Eurovision 2010!
