August 2011 Hollywood, CA: America's baddest "b - boys" Battle Born are dancing their way to France to represent the United States in the Braun Battle of the Year!
Tensions were high as 50 of the best breakers from all across the country competed at Hollywood's Avalon Theater in an all out dance competition to win the US championship. Sparing no moves and flaunting their b-boy style Battle Born was pitted against the Squadron crew from Los Angeles in the final. After a heated show down, the eleven man crew Battle Born won over celebrity b-boy judges Easy Rock, Lego, and Moy who named them Braun Battle of the Year US Champions.
B-boy competition found its way into the crowds as hundreds of fans packed the Avalon and battled each other in between rounds. 50 more b-boys took part in a 2 vs 2 outbreak qualifier in hopes of securing a place in the Outbreak 7 Hip Hop festival in Orlando, Florida this December.
As US Champions , Battle Born now have to prepare for the Braun BOTY final the world's largest and longest running "b-boy" (i.e. breakdancing) event. Finalists from around the world will be battling for the BOTY World Title in Montpellier, France on November 19, 2011 at the Parks & Suites Arena.
The Battle of the Year began in 1990 - starting with 500 hard-core fans and growing into a global phenomenon which now fills arenas with roaring spectators cheering on breakdancers from around the world. The 2010 BOTY World Champion was the JinJo Crew from Korea.
