That cube is actually from the first game, ending battle. It was disintegrated, hence the burn marks. It's a gift from GLaDAS

Ironically, the translation of the song is Glados lamenting Chell's departure. Well, except for when the word "schienze" ( pronounced she-en-tza) is heard. That translates to Glados telling Chell to stop interfering with science. The more you know.
